Starting Point: Your day hike will begin in the village of Dhampus, which is approximately a 1 hour and 30 Minute drive from Pokhara.
Dhampus Village: Dhampus is a charming Gurung village perched on a ridge with panoramic views of the Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges. Take some time to explore the village and enjoy the traditional architecture and local culture.
Trail to Australian Camp: The trail from Dhampus to Australian Camp is relatively easy and well-defined. It passes through lush forests, terraced farmlands, and offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. As you ascend along the trail, you'll be treated to breathtaking vistas of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Lamjung Himal. The trail is dotted with rhododendron forests, especially during the spring season (March to April), when the blossoms create a colorful landscape.
Australian Camp: After hiking for about 1 to 2 hours, you'll reach Australian Camp (also known as Australian Base Camp), which is a popular viewpoint located at an elevation of around 2,100 meters (6,889 feet). Return: After spending some time at Australian Camp and enjoying the mesmerizing scenery, you can retrace your steps back to Dhampus, where you can find transportation back to Pokhara.
