About This Trip
The Poon Hill trek from Pokhara is one of Nepal's most popular short treks, combining stunning mountain views, traditional villages and a warm cultural experience. Starting with a drive from Pokhara to Ulleri, this journey takes you deep into the beauty of the Annapurna region.
Day 01: Pokhara – Tikhe Dhunga/Ulleri – Trek to Ghorepani (2,880 m / 9,448 ft)
Your guide will meet you at your hotel in Pokhara for a scenic drive through Nayapul, Birethanti, Hile and Tikhedhunga. Along the way, you'll pass through terraced fields, charming villages and sparkling waterfalls. The road climbs to Ulleri (1,960 m), a traditional hillside village with wonderful views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail).
From Ulleri, your trek begins with a walk through peaceful rhododendron and oak forests, filled with birds and seasonal flowers. After about 4–5 hours of hiking, you'll reach Ghorepani, a welcoming Magar village set below the famous Poon Hill viewpoint. Overnight stay in a comfortable mountain lodge.
Day 02: Sunrise at Poon Hill – Trek to Ulleri – Return to Pokhara
Start early with a short hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m / 10,531 ft), one of the best viewpoints in Nepal. Watch the sunrise over the Himalayas as the peaks of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung and Manaslu glow in golden light – a truly unforgettable moment.
After enjoying the views, return to Ghorepani for breakfast, then trek down through forested trails and villages back to Ulleri. From here, a shared jeep or bus will bring you comfortably back to Pokhara, leaving you with lifelong memories of the Annapurna mountains.
